For the trip home from Nevada we decided to take the scenic route up through Idaho and Yellowstone National Park.
We went up through Twin Falls were the photo above and below were take of the Snake River.
On the way to Yellowstone we stopped at Bear World just to guarantee we saw a bear. The kids had lots of fun feeding the deer, ducks, and fish.
Welcome to Yellowstone, within a mile of entering we got to see some elk.
Fire Hole Canyon where Landen played in the river for a while and found the rock that he carried around for the rest of the day.
We stopped for lunch at the beautiful Old Faithful Inn, very cool architecture.
Then we waited and waited for Old Faithful to erupt.
It was faithful though and erupted pretty close to schedule.
Wildflowers next to Yellowstone Lake
West Thumb Geyser Basin home to many hot springs, geysers, and mud pots
Landen loves mud pots, there's a simulated one at the MN Zoo so he was pretty excited to see a real one.
The buffalo are thriving at Yellowstone and we got stuck in more than one buffalo jam on our trip through the park. Since they are as tall as an SUV it was good people gave them the time and space to meander down the road.
It was 9:00pm before we left the park, it was beautiful and we will definitely plan on going back to stay a while next time.
