We arrived in our San Antonio hotel room just in time to catch part of the St. Patrick Day boat parade from our balcony.
You could walk right on to River Walk from our hotel, it was fun to see all the ducklings.

The San Antonio Children's Museum was lots of fun. Brant is trying to surround Mackenna in a giant bubble.
Now Dad is being goofy in the photos at the Chart House Restaurant on top of the Tower of the Americas. We had some great calamari.
We spent the last 3 days of our vacation in Port Aransas on the Gulf Coast. We had a great time playing in water and on the beach. This was the view from our condo balcony.
We visited the Leonabelle Turnbull Birding Center I guess they also have alligators but we didn't see any, except this one eating Mackenna.

We spent most of our time out in the water outside our condo. Landen tried boogie boarding.
He loved it!
There was a somewhat close encounter with a pod of bottlenose dolphins during the boogie boarding adventure. The dolphins were about a 100 feet away, playing with some fish, tossing them in the air, when they suddenly turned and came straight toward Brant and Landen. When they were about 50 feet away Brant thought that was close enough and the two of them headed for shallower water. Many people have said, why would you come in but when you're out there and four or five 400 lb dolphins are heading for you, you might make the same decision.
Mackenna spent most of her time in the sand but did enjoy running and jumping over the waves. She also liked floating like a bobber in the waves.
An attempt at flying a kite, it unfortunately didn't last too long.
We enjoyed watching the flocks of pelicans skimming the surf.
When we were done on the beach we went back to our heated pool to warm up and swim some more, it wasn't terribly warm at the beach.
We went on a tour of University of Texas Marine Science Institutes Wetland Education Center.

We made it to Iowa
and took a short detour to see one of the Bridges of Madison County.
Before we hit the snowstorm about 10 minutes after we crossed the Minnesota boarder. Welcome back to winter.
